Explore Centre County’s History & Culture
Welcome to the Centre County Encyclopedia of History & Culture, an online resource sponsored by the Centre County Historical Society.
Currently, we are featuring articles about ClearWater Conservancy and Rhoneymeade. ClearWater was founded in 1980 to protect water resources in the Centre Region. The organization has evolved from a largely volunteer group to a nationally accredited land trust organization. ClearWater signed a conservation agreement with Rhoneymeade in 1986 that permanently preserves the 133 acres of fields, pastures, and woodlands from development. Rhoneymeade is the ancestral home of Leonard Rhone, a founder of the Grange Fair, and features a rural arboretum and sculpture garden.
We welcome your feedback about all the articles in the encyclopedia as well as your suggestions for future encyclopedia articles.
